City warns of scam

The Clinton Water Department has received notice of a phone scam in which a caller identifies themself as a city employee and warns the resident of problems regarding their utility account.

“This individual is stating that a red flag has been placed on the account and service will be interrupted,” a statement from the City of Clinton, released Friday, read. “The city does not make such calls and only makes service interruption calls for delinquent water bills or due to maintenance and repair work.”

Those with any questions or seeking further clarification are encouraged to contact City Hall at 910-592-1961.
