On Saturday, Jan. 30, Sampson County 4-H had five youth compete in the Southeast District 4-H Horse Bowl Contest which was held at the University of Mount Olive.

The team came in 3rd high overall, while team member Megan Merritt received 3rd high individual and her fellow teammate, Julie Gore, placed 4th high individual in the mixed division. The team qualified and competed at the NC 4-H State Horse Bowl Contest in Raleigh, March 5.

Horse bowl is a 4-H event where youth compete in a jeopardy like contest that quizzes them on their overall knowledge of horses.
