Richard Long of Union High School was recently named February’s Teacher of the Month for Sampson County Schools.

“My grandmother once told me that God had a plan for me, something that I really did not understand much until now,” Long said. “Being involved in different aspects of Union High School, I have a chance to influence not only the present, but the future of the people I get to meet. Whether through the AVID or athletic programs I have a great opportunity to do this.”

Long said he tries to take the philosophy of his grandmother and apply it to teaching.

“I’m a firm believer that God does have a plan for us all, I’m just trying to help my students figure His out for them,” Long said.
