A Clinton Medical Clinic physician assistant and a Clinton woman are facing a string of prescription fraud charges leveled against them Monday night.
Brent Ashley Westbrook, 38, of 48 Stillwater Lane, Clinton, and Amber Parker, 37, of 250 Lake Point Lane, Clinton, were taken into custody by Clinton Police and State Bureau of Investigation agents and charged with 22 counts each of obtaining controlled substances by fraud and forgery, all felonies.
Westbrook is a PA at the medical clinic’s annex in Newton Grove. Calls to the medical clinic went unanswered Tuesday afternoon.
According to Clinton Police Chief Jay Tilley, officers received information several weeks ago regarding alleged prescription medication fraud involving someone in the medical profession and another person. The incidents were reportedly dealing with the falsifying of prescriptions to obtain pain medication, a press release on the arrests noted.
Tilley said the investigation showed Westbrook and Parker had obtained over 1,500 dosage units of drugs to include Oxycodone and Percocet.
The pair were placed under separate $40,000 bonds. Both have since been released from jail and are expected to make first appearances in Sampson County District Court later this week.
