Two days after an early morning party turned dangerous, Sampson County investigators are still trying to piece together what occurred and locate those responsible for injuring two area men.
Sheriff’s Capt. Eric Pope said Monday that officers had few leads in the shooting which was reported around 4:14 a.m. to the E-911 Center.
Pope said the incident occurred at 46 Kea Lane where a party was reportedly going on into the wee hours of Sunday morning. When deputies arrived, they found that 19-year-old Rakeem Williams, of 312 North East Center St., Faison and Corey Antoine Kirkland, 29, of 46 Kea Lane, had been shot while attending the party at the Kea Lane address.
Neither of the victims were able to give a suspect description of the individual or individuals who may have shot them. Investigators, Pope said, were continuing to interview witness in an attempt to sort out what occurred and who might have been responsible for the shooting.
Both of the victims were transported to Sampson Regional Medical Center for treatment; one of them was transferred to another medical facility later in the day Sunday, but Pope could not confirm the name of the hospital. No condition reports were available on the victims.
Pope said he had no further information on the shooting, but officers were asking that anyone who might have been at the party or have details about the incident cal the Sampson County Sheriff’s Office at 910-592-4141.
