Sampson Community College officials just announced that the college will be closed for day and evening classes Wednesday, Jan. 29. Announcements for further closings will be made as information concerning the condition of local roads becomes available.

The college adds to a growing list of closings across Sampson as sleet and snow make its way from the coast.

Sampson County government offices closed today at noon because of the predicted inclement weather,and will remain closed Wednesday.

Officials said right now the expectation is to reopen those offices on noon Thursday; however a final decision won’t be made until 9 a.m. Thursday.

Both Clinton City and Sampson County schools also announced closings for Wednesday, with a decision about Thursday to be made as more information is known about the weather and road conditions.

Snow is expected to begin falling tonight with predicted snowfall accumulations up to 5 inches, according to the latest from the National Weather Service.
