The Chamber strives to promote our members to visitors and within the community. The Chamber office gives thousands of Chamber member referrals each year, giving our members valuable exposure through the Chamber’s website and referrals. However, we want our members to explore all that the Chamber has to offer to ensure they are taking full advantage of their membership. Therefore, we encourage you to join us on either Tuesday, Aug. 5 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. or Wednesday, Aug. 6 from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. for “Chamber 101”. Attendees will explore how to take full advantage of their Chamber membership listing on the website, add hot deals and special promotions, add upcoming events, and much more. The Chamber offers over 70 networking opportunities each year, over 20 educational opportunities each year, over 3,000 referrals each year, and much more. Our office is continuing to prepare for the many fall 2014 Chamber events. Save the date for the 2014 Sampson Perspective on Wednesday, Sept. 3 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Chamber members will have the opportunity to submit questions prior to the event for the panel of elected leaders. This year’s 2014 Sampson Perspective panel includes: Congressman Mike McIntyre, Rep. William Brisson, Rep. Larry Bell, Sen. Brent Jackson, City Manager Shawn Purvis, and County Manager Ed Causey. This moderated event will discuss some of the leading challenges facing Sampson County as the Chamber strives to serve as the voice for the members fostering a healthy business community and a strong quality of life. This is event is free and open to the public. The audience will also have a chance to ask questions at the end of the event if time permits.
Applications are already coming in for the 2014 Business Showcase taking place on Thursday, Sept. 11. From 5 until 7 p.m., Chamber members are invited to set up a booth-style exhibit to showcase their business to the community and other business partners at the CenturyLink Building in downtown Clinton. Hosted by CenturyLink, we encourage the community to attend this event featuring local businesses, live music, door prizes, delicious hors d’oeuvres and more. Lastly, applications are currently being accepted for the 2014-15 Adult Leadership program. Participants engage in an eight-month program discovering the “behind the scenes” of Sampson County. Participants explore criminal justice, economic development, health & human services, local government, state government, and more. With only 12 spaces available each year, I encourage you to submit your application today.
