The Chamber strives to serve our members through a variety of means, including offering a wide variety of activities and opportunities, meeting each individual need for continued community involvement, networking, and economic growth for their organization or business. As I reflect upon August, I review the wide range of activities and opportunities offered to the community and our members, filled with a new business ribbon cutting at Clinton City CrossFit, Chamber 101, Business after Hours Ice Cream Social hosted by the Chamber, Relay for Life Community Yard Sale, Cornhole Tournament, and Downtown Clinton Sidewalk Sale, Town of Turkey Chamber Day, 2013 Sampson Perspective, and a seminar with the Volunteer Management Network.
Focusing on the Volunteer Management Network, this network is coordinated by the Chamber with leadership from co-chairs Becky Spell of Tim’s Gifts and Wanda Smiley of 3HC. In March of this year, it was brought to the Chamber’s attention the need and desire for a volunteer management network. As many of us know and understand, volunteers are what make many of our organizations who we are today. Without volunteers, many organizations would not be able to offer such services to the local community, Sampson County, and North Carolina. This network was designed to give volunteer managers the tools and resources needed to recruit, retain, and assist their volunteers as much as possible.
This past Wednesday, we had our second volunteer management network opportunity of the year, open to any organization that utilizes volunteers. After a time to network, a seminar was led by Chuck Hemrick on “Volunteer Recruitment and Retention.” Through the one hour presentation, Chuck equipped our volunteer managers with great tools, resources, and ideas to better assist the volunteers in their volunteer role as well as gave the volunteer managers great ideas and ways to recognize volunteers for their dedication and support.
For more information about the Volunteer Management Network provided through the Clinton-Sampson Chamber of Commerce, or if you are looking to volunteer with one of the many organizations within Sampson County and would like more information, give us a call at 910-592-6177. We look forward to ensuring our non-profit and other organizations have the tools and resources needed in order to provide the best for those within Sampson County.
