What an exciting next few weeks in Sampson County as we hold the final Latino Entrepreneurial Seminar, continue coat distribution for the 2013 Coat Closet project, and enjoy festivities such as Christmas in the City and the Christmas in Clinton Parade.
We encourage you to come out to tonight’s “It’s a Wonderful Christmas in the City” that will be sure to get you in the Christmas spirit. Enjoy the tree lighting at 5:30 p.m., live music on the courthouse steps, carriage and hay rides, gingerbread decorating at City Hall, a reception and silent auction at the Sampson County History Museum, and more. What a wonderful festive evening for the community tonight from 5:30 until 8:30 p.m. in Downtown Clinton. Thank you to each of the businesses, community partners, and volunteers assisting to ensure tonight’s event is a success.
This Saturday, the Chamber, in partnership with the Small Business Center at Sampson Community College and Sampson County Economic Development Commission, will host the final seminar of the 2013 Hispanic Entrepreneurial Academy. With over 60 attendees at the last seminar, we are looking forward to Saturday’s educational opportunity. Attendees will discover “How to Meet your Tax Requirements” taught in Spanish. After the morning seminar, attendees will enjoy lunch and a presentation of certificate for those that completed of the academy.
While the 2013 coat collection has ended, the committee is busy fulfilling requests through community partnerships. Currently the coat closet project has distributed over 200 coats, however many requests are still to be fulfilled. Thank you to the coat closet sponsors as well as each individual that donated a new or gently used coat. If you know of an individual or family that would benefit from the coat closet project, please give us a call at 910-592-6177.
Lastly, don’t forget Santa is coming to town at this year’s Christmas in Clinton parade on Saturday, December 14th at 10 a.m. in Downtown Clinton. The Christmas in Clinton Parade is truly a staple to our county seat and we look forward to another great family fun tradition. Kiwanis of Clinton is asking spectators to bring a canned food item to the Christmas in Clinton parade. Kiwanians will have a food truck in the parade and will have volunteers collecting the canned food items from the spectators. The collected canned food items will go to local food banks to help during the holiday season.
As always, I encourage you to shop local this holiday season and thank you to each of the volunteers and committed business and community leaders that have come together to ensure these community events are a part of Sampson County. It is because of the partnerships and strong attendance, these events are able to continue and grow. For more information about the Chamber or to get involved, give us a call at 910-592-6177 or visit www.clintonsampsonchamber.org.
