Sampson County motorists who are accustomed to traveling along Tyndall Bridge Road will have to take a different route until the end of October.

The N.C. Department of Transportation closed both north and southbound lanes of State Road 1329 (Tyndall Bridge Road), 0.6 miles east of JCT SR 1433 (McPhail Road) Monday. Its scheduled reopening has been set for Oct. 30.

DOT officials could not be reached Monday for comment on why the road is being closed. Watch for updates in The Sampson Independent later this week.

In a memorandum, state officials said the detour will consist of taking SR 1434 (Huntley School Road) east to SR 1326 (Corinth Church Road). Motorists are being advised to take SR 1326 south to SR 1433 (McPhail Road) and to take SR 1433 west to SR 1329 (Tyndall Bridge Road).

NCDOT officials are reminding drivers to stay alert and use alternative routes when possible during the construction period. This also includes driving with caution , obeying posted speed limits and allowing extra travel time.
