When early voting closed in Sampson County Saturday afternoon, a total of 1,414 people had cast ballots.
Board of Elections officials could not provide a breakdown of how many Republicans and Democrats voted during the early voting period, which began April 24 and closed at 1 p.m. May 2.
That period leads up to Tuesday’s primary election, with all 23 precincts opening at 6:30 a.m. and closing at 7:30 p.m.
There is no voting at the Board of Elections office off Rowan Road on Tuesday. Voters are to go to their precincts to cast ballots.
The Sampson Independent, whose daily deadlines fall shortly after the polls close, will have a brief election story in Wednesday’s paper detailing the winners, with follow-up stories and winner interviews in Thursday’s newspaper.
