An 18-year-old Clinton man was jailed on a felony drug charge late Tuesday night after police were called to a Clinton business to investigate a disturbance call.
The alleged victim of the disturbance, Jimmy McKoy Rouse, was actually the one taken into custody after a consent search turned out marijuana in his possession.
According to Clinton police reports Rouse, 18, of 503 Tram Road, Clinton, was at Ellen’s Barber Shop, 602 Lisbon St., when police arrived to handle the reported disturbance. He told the investigating officer that a woman and two men rode by him and attempted to harm him over some personal issues.
After taking his statement, the officer asked Rouse if he could take him home, but when the 18-year-old went out to the police cruiser and spotted the K-9 dog, he stopped, explaining to the officer that the animal might smell marijuana.
At that point the officer asked for consent to search, and Rouse agreed.
Ten small baggies of a substance believed to be marijuana, approximately 4.6 grams, was seized and Rouse was immediately taken into custody and charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, a felony.
He was jailed under a $20,000 bond and is expected to make his first appearance in Sampson District Court Dec. 20.
