The former husband-and-wife managers of East Park Cinema in Clinton were charged Monday afternoon with taking money from the establishment they ran for decades.
According to Clinton Police reports, Ray and Ardith Cannon, both of 6141 Harrells Hwy., Garland, were charged with two counts each of felony embezzlement.
The arrests come on the heels of a months-long investigation that began on Nov. 19.
Clinton Police Chief Jay Tilley acknowledged that his department became involved after EastPark’s parent company, Paris & Potter Management Corporation, completed an internal investigation and made complaint to local authorities.
The charges stem from allegations that the couple was not reporting all the ticket sales made at the local movie theater.
Ray Cannon, 67, and Ardith Cannon, 68, turned themselves in at the magistrate’s office Monday afternoon, Tilley said. Both were placed under $5,000 unsecured bonds and released.
No trial date has been set.
The couple has not worked for East Park since the fall of 2013.
