For the second year in a row, the Clinton United U14 boys’ soccer team left the McDonald’s-Wrangler Tournament in Greensboro with a gold medal.
This year’s tournament was extra special, as the team allowed no goals to be scored on them. Led by the defense of Edwin Vanegas, Jacob Bauman, Trevor Leggett, Jarod Parker, and goalie Hampton Brock, the U14 team dominated their end of the field. Offensively, as well, the team averaged 3.75 goals per game – winning each game 4-0, 4-0, 2-0, 5-0.
Skylar Cannady, Peter Darden, Boyce Purdie, Ivan Ponce, and David Ramirez-Salvador all scored. The other United teammates assisted in the victories too. Corey Smith, Riley Brewington, and Lloosman Zabala all contributed with assists and quality play.
Parents offered a special thanks to coaches David Purdie and Mitchell Brewington for what they said was their unyielding dedication and preparation.
