Mrs. Lila Spearman West, who is a retired teacher of the Delway district, will be 91 years of age on Aug. 2, 2014. This is a tribute, and a much deserving one, to her.
She has always been a brilliant person. In some ways she was thought to be a genius, but what makes her so important as a person is her love for God and her willingness and desire to help others. She is a person who shares the love of God with everyone she meets. She is a person who will never meet you without telling you about the goodness of the Lord.
All of the last two or three generations have benefited from her life as a teacher, counselor and a Christian woman. She is and has been an example for many through the years.
History will record the number of people she has given a positive start or put on the right road to success. This is what she loves most — helping someone get started and helping see them through.
This is what God wants us all to do; this is how we get our own blessings in life.
At 91 years old, Mrs. West is unique. Age cannot destroy her goodness. In truth, nothing can destroy her goodness, not even death.
Each day she is reborn, helping someone who cannot meet their bills, pay their debts or meet their responsibilities. she finds a way to put food in people’s mouths and lending a helping hand.
She is a person who will never die because there is always someone she is helping to live. She lives on through all the people she’s touched, all the lives she’s made a difference in through the years. They know Mrs. Lila will help them!
I want to wish her an early Happy Birthday and thank her for the example she continues to be in the lives of so many, including my own.
