L.C. Kerr School Students Make the Most of the Cold Weather as they Study the Winter Olympics!

Art, Music, P.E. and Media teachers at L. C. Kerr School collaborated to celebrate the 2014 Winter Olympics being held in Sochi Russia during the month of February. Ms. Colt, the art teacher, helped children construct flags of the different countries participating in the Olympics and taught the students about some of the different customs. Mr. Benton, the music teacher, introduced the children to different national anthems of the countries and integrated the character trait of PRIDE into his lessons. Mrs. Flower, the P.E. teacher, created MODIFIED versions of Olympic games, ie…ice hockey, luge, curling, skiing, skating, etc. for the students to experience. Mrs. Hall, the media coordinator, incorporated the Super 3 Research Process into lessons for the students to find out more about the 15 winter Olympic sports in Sochi. The first grade and kindergarten students at L.C. Kerr School were excited to learn about this historic event in terms that they could understand and appreciate.
