The Lady Lions roared past Community Baptist Academy on the volleyball court in Elizabethtown Monday evening, winning both matches.
The first set was fairly evenly played and ended with a score of 25-21, but Mintz Christian Academy came to life in the second set, winning 25-10.
Leading scorers in that game were Elizabeth Lee and Charlotte Smith, both with 9 service points each.
CBA was asleep in the first game of the second match with MCA winning 25-5. The Elizabethtown team turned it around some in the next two sets, but the Lady Lions were able to hold on for both wins to take the match, 25-18 and 25-18.
Brianna Wheeler scored 15 points and Hanna Horne earned 13 points for the Lions.
Mintz head coach Dan Heinz said he is thrilled to see the team’s hard work pay off.
“Tonight was a good experience for all of our girls. As a coach it is exciting to get to play every girl, and to see them experience success. Every one of our girls scored at least 2 service points,” he said.
“Our girls have developed so much, and it is fun to watch as they see the reward for their hard work,” he added.
MCA will host the Sampson Middle Dark Horses on Thursday and Coach Heinz said he expects that to be a really tough match. For those who want to experience the game first hand, Mintz Christian Academy is about a mile south of Roseboro on Old Mintz Hwy. (N.C. 411).
