The Lady Raiders finished their volleyball season on a high note, defeating the Spartans in 3 sets: 20-25, 18-25, 20-25.

Leading the assault, as she has all season, is Amber Poole with 11 assists, 7 kill shots, and 2 aces. Adding to the effort, Hannah Hubbard had 7 kill shots and 1 ace; Ivey Parker, 3 kills and 2 aces; Brittany Watson, 1 ace, 3 kill shots; Cassidy Strickland, 13 assists; Savannah Spell, 8 kills; Taylor Fann, 3 kills; Kelsey Pondo, 5 kills; Brianna Butler, 3 aces; Michaela Godwin, 2 aces; and Savannah Bullins, 1 ace.

In speaking about their final game, Midway head coach Jennifer Naylor spoke about each member’s contribution.

“Savannah Spell had great work effort at the net, along with Hannah Hubbard ending the first two sets with big blocks and kills at the net. Brittany Watson set up big on the whole rotation, coming off the bench to contribute along with Taylor Fann. Cassidy Strickland continues to “do her job” at setting, leading the team in assist,” stated Coach Naylor.

Pender, with a 13-1 record, is the leader in the conference, and the Lady Raiders were the ones to spoil the Patriots’ conference winning streak.

This gives Midway a conference record of 8-6 and 8-11 overall. They will play in the first round of the state playoffs on Saturday. Time, location, and opponent will be announced late Thursday or Friday morning.
