The first quarter showed the teams tit for tat, with both teams scoring 12 points each. However, the Spartans got the ball rolling in the second, and pulled ahead 25-16. After halftime, the young Spartans came out aggressively, scoring 24 more points in the third quarter.

Hobbton JV coach Wes Cone was disappointed with the loss, but said, “It was a good game.”

Union’s top scorers were Shyquan Brunson with 16 points; Carter Spearman with 15 points; Chris Nash with 11 points; Devin Henry with 8 points; Warren Gay with 6 points; Donovan Hayes with 5 points; CJ Thornton with 2 points.

Union’s head coach Bryant Register said, “I want to congratulate Hobbton on a good game. I was disappointed in our efforts in the first half, but we came out with a lot more intensity in the second. We put a good press on them, giving us some turnovers and a few layups. Overall, this was a great win.”

Union will host West Bladen in their first conference game next Tuesday. Hobbton will travel to Rosewood on Tuesday.
