It was a nail-biter in the Harrells Chrisitan Academy gym Friday as the varsity girls basketball team beat St. David’s School of Raleigh 45-40 in overtime.


The two teams matched shot for shot most of the game. They were tied 10-all at the end of the first quarter and St. Daivd’s was leading by 4 points with a score of 18-22 at halftime.


The Lady Crusaders made up those 4 points plus 1 to finally take the lead, 33-32, going into the 4th quarter, but at the end of regulation the two teams were all bundled up again 39-39.


Harrells got their second wind and moved ahead by 5 points to take the win, 45-40.


Leading the charge for the Crusaders was Daisha Jordan with 19 points, 6 rebounds and 8 steals. Anna DeVane was the next highest scorer with 8 points; Emily Benton scored 6 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 blocked shots; Chloe Campbell, 5 points, 5 rebounds; Bucky Everette, 2 points, 4 steals; Haylee Parks, 3 points; and Christian Campbell, 2 points.


The Lady Crusaders will face Rocky Mount Academy on Monday at home. Game time is 6 p.m.
