The Hobbton Wildcats hosted the Spring Creek Gators Thursday night for their second conference outing. The Gators dominated the Wildcats completely, winning all three contests.

The finals were: JV, 66-61 Spring Creek; girls, 80-28 Spring Creek; and the boys lost 64-40 to Spring Creek.

The JV game was the closest game of the evening. Hobbton’s JV jumped out to an early lead, sometimes as much as 14 points, but the Gators kept at it. They took the lead in the final minutes and held on for the win.

The girls’ game was no contest. Spring Creek jumped out to a 16-4 lead in the first quarter and never looked back.

Wildcat coach Tom Mewborn said, “We’ve got to learn to play better defense. We also had a lot of trouble against the press. We are trying to make us a guard. Hopefully we will find a cure for that after Christmas.”

The boys’ game was a good game although the score isn’t indicative of that. The score stayed around a 20 point margin in favor of the Gators most of the game.

Tyja Gray scored 10 for the Wildcats and Marques Surles scored 9.

The Wildcats resume conference play at Princeton on Friday, January 3.
