JV Boys


Midway’s JV team put on a show for the home crowd Monday evening, defeating Pener 106-58. Midway led 44-27 at halftime and 83-42 after 3 before finally ending the route with a 48 point win.


Midway was led by Shyheim Small with 27 points. Paris Smith had 20, Larry Blanks had 19, and Dariuss Perez had 11.


“Big third quarter for us, probably our best quarter of the year” said Midway’s head coach Matthew Creech, whose team is 16-1 and 9-0 in conference play. The JV Raiders have won 16 games in a row since dropping their first game of the year.


Varsity Girls


Midway’s varsity girls team beat Pender Monday evening 66-32. Midway used full-court pressure to build a good lead in the first half, and never let up. Midway led 30-16 at halftime, and 49-20 after 3 before finishing off the big win.


Morgan Tew led Midway with 16 points, Amber Poole had 10 points, and Taylor Faircloth had 9. Brianna Butler chipped in 8 for the Lady Raiders.


“Our defense was really good tonight. That’s something we wanted to really focus on, and I think it really set the tone for the game” said Midway’s head coach Jennifer Naylor. Midway had 16 assists to just 11 turnovers as a team, and had 10 steals. Midway will host Wallace for Senior Night on Wednesday.
