Wearing their all pink jerseys, the Clinton Lady Dark Horses held a fundraiser for breast cancer awareness, while beating Union High School with a score of 54-28.
Beginning the game with a lead the Horses ended the first quarter with a score of 17-8. Taking this lead, Clinton continued into the second quarter.
Keeping their lead on Union the Horses were able to score and keep their defense up. With a first half score of 32-18, the Horses prepared for the next half.
The Lady Dark Horses kept the Spartans on their toes. With speed and skills, the Varsity Girls for Clinton ended the game with a score of 54, sending Union home with 28.
Leading scores for Clinton were Kristen Glasper with 18 points, Brielle Mitchell with 13 points, Zoey Harris with 6 points, and Mikayla Boykin and Jasmine Fryar with 4.
Next up, the Varsity Boys took the court. Starting with a close score, the Horses were still in the lead. With a first quarter score of 24-13, Clinton was eager to win.
Using their eagerness as an advantage, the Horses raised their score to 44, leaving the Spartans at 21 for the first half.
As halftime began, Senior DeAsia Edwards spoke on behalf of the Varsity girls team, introducing their fundraiser and allowing anyone who has had or is now battling cancer to come forth and receive a ribbon. Ending it with a prayer, the Horses returned to the court.
Staying ahead, Clinton managed to get a third quarter score of 58, while Union only had 21.
With the last quarter now here, Union and Clinton battle it out, ending with a score of 64-40, Clinton with the win.
Top scores for Clinton were Jaalen Banks with 10 points, RayQuan Faison with 9 points, Jeremiah Pope and Wyman Faison with 6 points, and James Evans and Osharmaine Jones with 5 points.
Clinton will play Friday, February 7, at the home of West Bladen High School at 6 p.m.
