Clinton’s girls beat Midway at home Saturday afternoon 73-54. Clinton had a slow start but eventually pulled away from the Lady Raiders.

Leading Clinton in scoring were Mikayla Boykin with 26 points, Kristen Glasper with 13 points, and Jasmine Fryar with 1o points.

Chris Owens, coach of the Lady Dark Horses was pleased with another conference win, which kept them tied atop the conference standings. “We were flat coming out of the gates, and I think that has a lot to do with how many games we’ve been forced to play lately due to the weather. I think our defense played very well, and kept Midway from getting easy baskets, which is something we really rely on for our success” said Owens.

Leading Midway in scoring were Taylor Faircloth with 21, Amber Poole with 16, and Morgan Tew with 11 points.

“We were focused and ready to take on the best team in the conference tonight. They played hard with heart and hustle and we’re happy” said Jennifer Naylor, head coach of Midway. “We cut their lead to 6 at one point but were never able to pull it out. I’m proud of the girls and their effort though” finished Naylor.

Clinton stayed in a tie for first place in the conference with East Bladen with the win.
