Varsity Girls


Harrells Christian Academy’s girls basketball team competed in their conference tournament over the weekend, defeating Cape Fear Academy on Friday 42-30, before losing in the championship game to Fayetteville Acadmey on Saturday 35-40.


Anna DeVane and Chloe Campbell led the charge for the Lady Crusaders on Friday as they both scored in double figures with 12 and 10 points respectively.


Harrells then fell short in the championship game after playing closely with Fayetteville Academy for the entire game. The game was tied at 19 at the break, and Harrells trailed by just one going into the 4th, with the score 28-27 in favor of FCA. Harrells just couldn’t get over the hump, and lost by 5.


Anna Devane scored 8 points in the conference final, as did Haylee Parks. Chloe Campbell had 10 to lead Harrells.


Varsity Boys


The Harrells varsity boys squad fell in the semi-finals of the conference tournament Friday. They played Fayetteville Academy close the entire way, but lost 47-50. After trailing by 6 at halftime, the Crusaders fought hard in the second half, but could never close the gap.


Marcus Scarborough played a great game scoring 22 points. Quate McKenzie added 11 for Harrells.


Harrells’ teams will compete in the state playoffs. These date are to be determined.
