Midway’s softball team got their second win of the year Thursday evening at the expense of East Bladen. Midway used clutch hits at key moments late in the game to seal the deal, 6-4.

Brittany Watson was the winning pitcher for Midway as she went the entire 7 innings, allowing 8 hits, walking 2, giving up 3 earned runs, 1 unearned, and striking out 2.

Hayley West had a big game at the plate, going 2-2, with a triple and an RBI. Kelsey Pondo had a double and an RBI, Amber Poole had a hit and drove in a run, Madison Bryant had 2 RBIs, and Katie McLean had an RBI to round out the Lady Raider batting stats.

“That was intense,” said Leigh Ann Smith, head coach of Midway. “We weren’t sharp early, but we made some big plays and got some big hits down the stretch. I think we played pretty good defensively, and it was a good win for us,” finished Smith.

Midway is now 2-1 on the season and 1-1 in conference play.
