Bailey Joyner was recently recognized at his Eagle Scout Court of Honor.
Eagle Scout is the highest advancement rank in Boy Scouting.
For his Eagle project, he planned, organized and directed the renovation of two existing wheelchair ramps and landscaping for the Westbrook Grange. The project included summer maintenance of the beautiful new landscape. The grange serves as a community building, meeting site for Boy Scouts, nutrition site and is also an electoral site for our community.
He is a member of Troop 55, which is sponsored by the Westbrook Grange in Newton Grove. Bailey started in the Boy Scout program as a Tiger Cub in 2004. Since then, he has successfully earned 46 merit badges and spent countless weekends attending camp outs at Tuscarora, Raven Knob, Nantahala and many more. He recently completed the 2014 National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT).
The 16-year-old is entering the 11th grade at Midway High School and serves as percussion co-captain for the 2014-15 marching band. He plans to join the Navy after graduation and pursue a degree in music.
He is the son of Christopher and Stephanie Gautier of Spivey’ Corner and Wesley and Wanda Joyner of Erwin.
