Student of Mary Goodwin have been busy preparing for performances in Southwood Nursing Center, in the North Carolina Music Association, in the National Piano Auditions and most recently in recital at First United Methodist Church.


Students who received certificates from the NCMA for performing in both solo and hymn events were Kimberly Aman, Kaitlyn Giddens, Phoebe Howerton, Danny Johnson, Mary Johnson, Karol Kusmierczuk, Kaya Kusmierczuk, Zachary Lucas, Melanie Ruggles, Brittany Tran and Chloe Zeng. Kaya Kusmierczuk received two trophies for having accumulated 150 points and Mary Johnson received her two trophies for accumulating 450 points.


Those students, along with Tamara Peterson, received a certificate and pin for having been declared winners in the 2014 National Piano Playing Auditions. They are members of the National Fraternity of Student Musicians for one year.


The recital ended with a beautiful performance of Liszt, Ave Maria by Vincent L. Povazsay. Vincent is a graduate of UNC where he recently received his Bachelor of Music degree.
