Charles “Chuck” West, formerly of Clinton, was recently promoted to captain within the Wake County Sheriff’s Office.

He is a 1988 graduate of Clinton High School and a 1991 graduate of Sampson Community College where he received his associate’s degree in criminal justice. He also completed the Officer’s Management Program from N.C. State University in 2005.

West is currently a senior at N.C. Central University and is expected to graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice in the spring of 2014.

After being employed by the Wendell Police Department in 1991, West pursued a career with the Wake County Sheriff’s Office and was hired in 1992. His first assignment with the Sheriff’s Office was as a bailiff. He has been fortunate to have worked in all areas of the Sheriff’s Office and is currently assigned to the Administrative Division.

West was promoted to lieutenant in 2009.

He is married to Wendy West and has a daughter starting her freshman year at Meredith College. He also has a 9-year-old step-daughter and a baby boy on the way.

West is the son of Charles and Sandra West of Clinton and brother to Levonda West Mauldin, also of Clinton.
