St. Jude celebrating pastor’s anniversary this week

A pre-anniversary celebration for Pastor Evelena Oliver will be held at Saint Jude Church of Christ in Warsaw tonight through Friday. On Wednesday night, Pastor Stephine Hart of Goldsboro will be guest; on Thursday night, Pastor Joe Warren and special guests Deborah Barns of Rocky Mount and Avis Faison of Warsaw; and on Friday, Bishop Chester Aycock of Wilson. The celebration will climax on Sunday at 10 a.m. with Pastor Gettis Lee of Baltimore, Md., and at 4 p.m. Bishop Varnie Fullwood of Mt. Pleasant Church, Clinton will be in charge.
The House of Prayer in Faison will have regular service Sunday, Sept. 1 at 7:30 p.m. The guest speaker will be Thelma McKinley and choir of Dudley. Everyone is invited.
Trinity United Free Will Holiness Church of Clinton will have service Sunday, Sept. 1 at 10 a.m. Pastor Ann Mosson will bring the morning message and the choir will provide the music.
Regular morning worship service will be held at Brown’s Chapel Missionary Baptist Church Sunday, Sept. 1 at 11 a.m. The pastor, the Rev. Jeffrey White, will bring the morning message and the senior choir will provide the music.
Family and Friends Day will be celebrated at Wilson Chapel Church Sunday, Sept. 1 at 11:15 a.m. The Rev. Vivian Boney of Salisbury will be the guest minister. She is the niece of former pastor Isaac Johnson. Lunch will be served following the morning service. All are invited to worship and fellowship with the church family. The Rev. Wendell Newton is the host pastor.
Congratulations to Charles Strickland for being the Hometown Hero. The award was given to him on Friday night by West and Sadie Cookman of WIDU radio station in Fayetteville. Thanks goes out to all the attendees as well.
Special appreciation goes out to all the churches that sent in a donation during my 25th appreciation service. I sincerely thank each one.
Our love and deepest sympathy goes out to all the families who have lost a loved one recently.
