It is said that all good things must come to an end. And so it is with our wonderful Summer of 2013. As it comes to an end so did our blockbuster production “Oklahoma!” which closed this past Sunday afternoon as our audience completely filled all our seats and the cast gave a rousing final performance of this popular musical. This show featured a large cast of veterans, newcomers and even a lot of families members. Kosterman Chiropractic and sweetFrog got a lot of advertisement by being the sponsors and everyone who attended one of the eight shows got a lot of enjoyment watching and listening to Hailey Best (Miss North Carolina 2011) playing Laurey, Jake Matthews playing Curly, Logan Tart playing Ado Annie, Kathy Day playing Aunt Eller, Nick Owen playing Jud Fry, Hannah Baxter playing Gertie with her unforgettable laugh, Guy Padgett playing Ali and Taylor Gilbert playing Will Parker.

The remaining 60 members of the cast were cowboys and cowgirls which gave their all over every performance. Tracy Jackson, a member of the Clinton Police force, did a super job of scaring some of our audiences by firing blanks backstage simulating gunshots, Thanks to everyone who attended and helped us keep the live arts prominent in our county.

Congratulations to Dylan Blackburn for earning and receiving his Eagle Scout award. Dylan is a fine young man who rarely misses being in our shows but he had to forego being in “Oklahoma!” because he was too busy finishing his Eagle Scout project. Dylan has been in a whole slew of our shows and we hope he will continue to do so.

“Crimes Of The Heart” is our next production and will begin rehearsals this week. Justin Lockamy is the director and has assembled a veteran cast for this show which will open in October.

The Sampson Community Theatre has its long-awaited website up and running. You may read about some of our past and ongoing activities by going to www.sampsoncommunitytheatre.org

Thoughts Until Next Week:

• Never ruin an apology with an excuse.

• Success is getting what you want. Happiness is liking what you get.

• To be able to ask a question clearly is two-thirds of the way to getting it answered.
