Cast of 75 rehearsing for ‘It’s A Wonderful Life’
by Dr. Bruce Caldwell Contributing columnist
In a little over a week we will be converting from Daylight Savings time to Standard time just in time for our first blast of cold weather. The Sampson Community Theater will be in rehearsals for our Christmas Program which will be a show that we never get tired of performing or seeing or even performing in it since it is a favorite everywhere it is performed. Angela Martin is again directing a cast of 75 in the early December production of “It’s A Wonderful Life” with Nathan Carter playing George Bailey and Ruth Ann Parker playing his wife, Mary Bailey, while Clarence is being played by Gary Wilson and G.Wayne Melvin will be the sinister Henry Potter. The Junior Ensemble will have two casts so that each youngster will perform in 3 shows each. It’s a large cast and they will be a family by the time opening night rolls around.
“Crimes of the Heart” closed this past weekend to standing ovations from our audiences for the wonderful acting of a superb cast under the direction of Justin Lockamy. If you did not see the show, it was your loss because you missed seeing six actors give six outstanding performances of a rather difficult show because of all the emotions that were uncovered. Many thanks to Angela Martin, Lucy Lockamy, Lillie Turlington, Kathy Day, Clay Boney and Taylor Gilbert for making their characters come to life on the big stage of the Sampson Community Theater.
Our website is available at: www.sampsoncommunitytheatre.org and we are on Facebook but if you visit us there, we ask that you “like” us while there.
“It’s A Wonderful Life” — Rehearsals ongoing. Performances December 6-8 and December 13-15.
2014 events are coming soon.
Thoughts until next week:
There is only one success-to be able to spend your life in your own way.
Good people do not need laws to tell them to act responsibly, while bad people will find a way around the laws.
Never be afraid to trust an unknown future to a known God.
