On Sunday, April 27, Garrett Spencer Sanderson was awarded the rank of Eagle Scout from Boy Scouts of America at a ceremony at Grace United Methodist Church in Clinton. Eagle Scout is the highest rank awarded by the Boy Scouts. To attain the rank of Eagle Scout, a Boy Scout must earn a minimum of 21 merit badges, including 12 required badges. A Boy Scout must also complete an Eagle Scout project to attain the rank. Garrett striped the parking spaces at the parking lot at Grace United Methodist Church for his Eagle project. This required planning the project, supervising volunteers, cleaning the parking lot, measuring each space to be painted and painting the lines. Garrett Sanderson is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Sandy Sanderson of Clinton. He is the grandson of Mr. & Mrs. Carroll Raynor of Newton Grove and Mrs. Mariana Sanderson and the late Hebern Sanderson of Clinton. Garrett is a member of Boy Scout Troop 27 sponsored by Graves Memorial Presbyterian Church in Clinton.
