Midway’s talented girls soccer team traveled to Rosewood Monday evening in a game that featured what coach Trey Apperson felt was their best performance of the year.
Midway took down a good Rosewood squad, 4-1, after leading 2-1 at halftime. Manasia Cobb had a break-out performance, scoring 2 goals, and Anna and Avery Apperson each scored a goal. Anna Apperson also assisted on 2 goals.
“It was our best overall performance of the year, I thought,” said Midway’s head coach Trey Apperson. Offensively we are finally clicking. Our defense has been great all season and they were again tonight. Our goalie, Samantha, hasn’t had a lot of action lately, but she did a great job tonight,” finished Apperson.
Samantha Jackson is the goalie, and in fact had not had much action as of late. Midway’s previous two opponents had no shots on goal, and the Lady Eagles had 13 Monday evening. However, Jackson responded in a great way, by saving 12 of the 13 shots on goal.
Midway is now 5-1 on the year, and remains 3-0 in conference play, as Rosewood was a non-conference opponent.
Midway is set to host Clinton Tuesday evening, weather permitting. These two teams aren’t only the hottest teams in the county, but also two of the hottest teams in the state. It should be a great game when these two high-octane teams square off.
