Well, I hope everyone enjoyed the real summer weather we have been having. Really didn’t feel like being outside much because of the heat and humidity. Hope those who were out there kept themselves hydrated and safe. But it looks like cooler weather is right around the corner. The trees in my yard have already turned those “fall colors” and are shedding their leaves.
The seniors are staying cool and busy with various activities at the center. They are looking forward to a trip on Aug. 27th to Wilmington to go shopping and have lunch. Usually, they go to K&W for lunch but it’s always the seniors’ choice. If you are interested in going, contact Willa Smith at the center at 529-3931 and reserve your seat. Everyone is welcome.
Remember, the food pantry with Carpenter Ministries is every Thursday at 11 a.m. If you need some assistance feel free to come out. Goshen Medical Center will be at the center doing their usually free health screenings on the first and third Tuesday of the month.
The center will be taking the Henrietta Lunch and Site Seeing cruise on Sept. 17th in Wilmington. Everyone has had a great time in the past. The cost of the trip is $26 and includes lunch and the site seeing trip. If you are interest you must register with Willa Smith or Marie Faircloth no later than September 1st with you payment. You are guaranteed to have a great time.
Even though the first day of fall is not until September 22 this year, we are seeing signs of fall all around—the cooler nights, leaves changing color, gardens winding down. We are seeing signs of change. With every season we see signs of change. In our lives we are constantly seeing changes and some come with resistance and some are welcome changes. This year the changes are coming early and are unexpected for this early in August but we have no choice but to accept them and just “go with the flow.” This is how we should approach things in our lives. We all to get a point in our lives that there are things we can’t change and the only choice we have is to accept them and be thankful for them. Sitting on the porch this morning, I felt sad that the trees have already started loosing their leaves — not only because I have to start raking leaves but because I enjoyed the view—but now I can enjoy the view of the yellows and oranges. I am going through a lot of chances in my life and I know that others are doing the same. In the moments when I am reflecting on the changes, I am talking with God and am thankful for all his blessing in my life. Everything that has come my way has been for a reason — all the changes have been for a reason and how can I not be thankful for the outcome that I know will eventually make me say “thank you God.”
I hope that everyone has a great week. Take time to be thankful for all your blessings.
