Bertie “Al” Parker III, 58
RALEIGH — Bertie Alric Parker III, (Al), 58, passed away on Jan. 9, 2014 at Rex Hospital in Raleigh, NC.
Funeral services will be held at at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 19, at West Raleigh Presbyterian Church. A family graveside service will be held one hour prior to the memorial service at Montlawn Memorial Park, located at 2911 South Wilmington St.
Al attended Louisburg College where he studied Radio and Television Production. He later worked as a disk jockey and as a production manager for a radio station in Duplin County. Following his career in radio, Al moved back to Raleigh and worked for the Department of Direct and Centralized Mail Services at N.C. State University. During his youth, Al became a member of West Raleigh Presbyterian Church. He was active in the Youth Group, the College Group and the Young Adult Singles Group.
Al is preceded in death by his father, B.A. Parker Jr.
He is survived by his mother, Peggy Morrison Parker of Raleigh; brothers, William Neill Parker and his wife Lisa of Knightdale, N.C. and Robert Steven Parker of Mt. Pleasant, S.C. Also surviving are four nieces, Tara Carr Parker and Courtney Neill Parker, both of Knightdale, and Morgan Kay Parker and Rachel Stephanie Parker, both of Mt. Pleasant.
The family will receive friends and family immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may made to the American Cancer Society, or the charity of one’s choice. Arrangements by Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, St. Mary’s Street, Raleigh.
