Do you believe there is more to Jesus than salvation? Knowing Jesus as your personal Savior entitles His sheep to blessings and benefits beyond what many believers will ever experience. We are told the heavens rejoice when one lost sheep comes to the Shepherd. A red letter day is recorded in family Bibles when a loved one accepts Jesus and receives salvation.

Do you remember the day you accepted Jesus? Parents remember and proudly stand beside their child as church members file by to shake hands and welcome them into the church. The Good Shepherd adds another name to His list and looks forward to being closely connected to His sheep. In fact, the Bible explains how we are to stay connected to the Vine in order to bear good fruit. If we are cut off from the Vine, we will die spiritually. When we prune and stay connected, there is growth and gifts of the Spirit waiting to be enjoyed with blessings beyond measure. In other words, we must stay charged up with a close connection in order to experience all that Jesus offers.

Most people reading this story have a cell phone and computer. The day you received them changed your life. They became ‘my phone – my computer’, even though you knew little about either of them. If you had taken them home and put them on a shelf, never spent time learning about them, left home without them, neglected to charge them daily, misplaced your connector, you would never enjoy the benefits of your phone or computer. To understand, enjoy, and become closely connected, it is imperative to spend time with them (Him), read and study about them (Him), and commune with others who understand features and benefits we have not experienced with them (Him)!

It is wise to seek help when we get confused, be patient yet persistent when we lose the signal, and always keep a charger handy for times when we neglect to stay connected. There is more to cell phones and computers than most owners will ever tap into. So it is with believers!

Becoming careless, comfortable, or failing to honor contracts with phones or computers can cause havoc and heartache. So, it is with believers!

Being without phone or computer leaves one lost and paying high fees for reconnection or new contracts. So, it is not with believers!

Jesus gives salvation to His children at no cost; it is free for the asking. The simple plan is complicated by ways and rules of the world. Jesus loved us so much that He gave HIs life that we might be free from sin and have a personal relationship with Him. We simply ask Him to come into our hearts, trust, obey, and enjoy a close connection to Father, Son, and Holy Spirit 24 – 7!

There is no charge, no reconnection fee, no penalties or late charges when we don’t keep our commitment to Him. When we reach out to Him, repent, and reconnect…we realize there really is more to Jesus than salvation! If you have not accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior and have not invited Him into your heart, I encourage you to do it today. He is waiting to enter your heart and be your very Best Friend.
