It was Reid Darden capturing the Conference Medalist honors in the year long race for the award, as he shot an impressive even-par 72 at River Landing’s River Course on Wednesday in Wallace. Darden edged out Union’s Evan Johnson, and teammate Amy Wooten for the top spot in this year’s medalist race.
It was once again another conference championship for the Clinton Dark Horses, as they finished things off with a win at River Landing. Their 335 score was good enough to get the job done and clinch the title.
Other scores for Clinton besides Darden on the day were Chandler Perry with a 79 and Wooten with an 84. The freshmen didn’t have her best stuff, but showed such great talent throughout the year, playing the back tees with the boys. She fired a 72 in the previous match at Castle Bay and claimed medalist honors there. Watch out for her in the postseason and in the coming years as a bigtime player in the Sampson County golf ranks.
Union, who shot 388, was led by Johnson’s 80 and Brady Roberts’ 90.
Midway got a solid 83 from Clay Honeycutt and sub 100 rounds from Aaron Rhodes, John Clark and Ben Edwards on a blistery day down by the river. Midway shot a team score of 370.
