Midway avenged their only loss of the year Wednesday night as they defeated 3A Triton, 13-8. Triton defeated Midway in the first meeting in Erwin, 6-1.
Dylan Hardison got the win on the mound for the Raiders. Hardison pitched 4 2/3 innings, allowing 5 runs on 6 hits and 5 walks while striking out 3. Cameron Godwin pitched the final 2 1/3 for Midway, earning the save. Godwin gave up 3 runs on 4 hits.
Taylor Calcutt was back in the lineup for Midway after missing their previous game due to illness. Calcutt was productive at the plate, going 2-4 with a stolen base, 3 runs scored, and an RBI.
Matthew Barefoot and Kyle Hawley each went 2-4 with an RBI; Cody Baker went 2-2 with a triple and 4 runs scored; Tyler Pope went 2-3 with 4 RBIs; Austin Hardison went 2-4 with 3 RBIs; Troy Spell went 1-2 with 2 runs scored and a stolen base, and Cameron Godwin added an RBI.
Head coach Jason Fussell of Midway was pleased his team was able to get the win, stressing how important it was for them to hit the ball the way they did. He also mentioned that they would continue to work hard every day to try and get better.
Midway now travels to West Bladen to take on another very talented team. The Knights are coming off of an impressive 9-1 win over Clinton. The game is scheduled for Friday at 7:30 p.m.
