Harrells Christian Academy’s softball squad got a hard fought 5-3 win over Wake Christian last week, 5-3. Harrells scored a run in the top of the 2nd before falling behind 3-1 in the bottom half of the inning. The Crusader defense would hold Wake Christian scoreless the rest of the way.
Harrells scored 2 runs in the top of the 3rd inning to tie the game at 3. They then scored a run in the 5th and 7th innings for the final 5-3 margin.
Anna Devane had a big day at the plate for HCA, going 3-4 with 3 runs scored, and Megan Crisafulli went 1-4, scoring 3 times.
Abigail Blanchard got the win on the mound for Harrells in a stellar performance.
Harrells’ baseball team traveled to O’Neal school last week to earn yet another impressive win. The Crusaders dominated the game, winning in 5 innings.
Mike Smith was fantastic on the mound, pitching a shutout. Smith only allowed 2 hits and fanned 7 batters in 5 innings of work, which was a complete game in this one.
Smith helped his own cause at the plate with an RBI triple in the third inning.
Harrells led 6-0 entering the 5th inning, and scored 4 runs to end the game due to the 10-run mercy rule. Joseph Phaneuf and Nathan Casteen each had an RBI in the 5th, and Corey Sutton had a 2 RBI double, allowing the Crusaders to head home early with the victory. Harrells continues to play baseball as well as any team around.
