Clinton hosted Union in a Four County Conference women’s soccer match on Friday evening. The Lady Dark Horses wasted no time getting on the score board, as Grace Reagan scored the first Clinton goal at the 45 second mark. In less than four minutes, the home team had boosted the score to 3-0 on goals by Hannah Smith and Alaina Capps.
The Lady Dark Horses once again played stout defense keeping the ball on the Spartan end of the field for much of the game. Clinton added five more goals in the first half to run the score to 8-0 at halftime, with Union getting only one shot on goal, when a hand ball penalty was called on the Lady Dark Horses allowing a penalty kick from close range. The Spartan PK was defended perfectly by goalie Tori Tyndall who caught the Union shot in front of the net thwarting the only Spartan threat of putting points on the board.
The Lady Horses ended the game early in the second half when Hannah Smith hammered home her fourth goal of the night to end the contest at the 42 minute mark early in the second half. “We continue to play well and drive toward our goal of being the number one seed in the East for the Playoffs”, said Clinton coach Jeff Smith after the match.
Clinton was led offensively by Hannah Smith with 4 goals and two assists, Alaina Capps added 3 goals and two assists, Katey Yang and Grace Reagan each had a goal and Emily Valenti and Ana Jaramillo each assisted on scores. The Lady Dark Horses will put their undefeated conference record on the line when they travel to West Bladen for another Four County Conference game next Tuesday.
