Midway’s softball team dropped a tightly contested contest Monday night as Pender went back to Burgaw with the 5-2 win. Brittany Watson was the pitcher for Midway. She pitched a complete game, allowing just 2 earned runs, while walking 2 batters, giving up 7 hits, and striking out 4.

Emily Hairr had a good night at the plate, going 2-4, Hannah Hubbard went 1-3 with a double, Madison Bryant was 1-3, Brittany Watson was 1-3 with a single, and Savannah Bullins reached twice on errors, and had 2 RBIs.

Midway had trouble hitting the ball with runners in scoring position, a problem that has plagued them throughout the year. They also gave up 3 unearned runs, which proved to be the difference in the game. Errors and poor decision making in the field was problematic for the Raiders Monday evening.

Midway is set to travel to Rocky Point Tuesday for a game with the Trask Titans. Midway will then host the Union Spartans on Friday.
