The Mid-East Regional for 1A golf was played at Coharie Country Club Monday to decide who would be in the State Championship next week at Whispering Pines Country Club in Southern Pines.


Voyager Academy was the regional champion with a team total of 350. Rosewood finished second with a 366 total, and Union finished third with a 375 total. Finishing third, Union earned a spot in the state championship.


Lakewood’s Tim White and Griffin Faircloth each qualified for the state championship as individuals, as they were two of the top three golfers who were not on a team that was going to the state championship. Faircloth shot 83 and White shot 84 on a tough Coharie golf course.


Individuals scores for Union include Tyler Ross shooting an 88, Evan Johnson shooting 84, Brady Roberts with an 89, and Spencer Usher with a 114.


Medalist for the region was McKenzie Barringer, who shot 74. Rosewood’s Nick Adams shot 76 to finish runner-up.


Tim Pope would like to thank Coharie Country Club and its members for their help and cooperation in helping set the course up and officiate the regional.
