The Lakewood Leopards kicked off their 2014 soccer season with a big win in Spartan country, 4—2.

Pate Holland had a busy night with 15 saves at the goal. The offense was lead by Johnathan Gonzales with 2 goals along with Shawn Andrews and Matthew Weuster with 1 goal each. Weuster and Lloosman Bavala were each credited with an assist.

Coach Jay Faircloth said, “Union played hard, but my boys really wanted this one. It was hot out there, but they never gave in they deserved this one.”

Lakewood is now prepared to hit the road for a short trip up to Midway on Wednesday. Union is off until next Wednesday, when they have a chance to redeem themselves in a match-up with Lakewood, this time at Lakewood.
