Hobbton’s JV and Varsity volleyball teams traveled to Rosewood on Tuesday for a match with the Lady Eagles. The Hobbton JV won2-1, while the varsity lost, 3-1.

The JV squad won their first match, 25-21, lost their second match, 25-22, and won the third 25-21 to seal their victory.

The varsity team lost the first match, 25-15, before winning the second, 25-21. They then lost the next two sets to go home in defeat.

However, coach Russell Jones of Hobbton was optimistic and saw good things in the Lady Wildcat performance. “We kind of watched the first set, then played really nicely in the next. Kaylee Matthews had a big set for us serving in the third, but we just couldn’t quite get over the hump,” said Jones.

“Our JV played well tonight, and I am proud of both teams and the progressions that they are making,” finished the Lady Wildcat head coach.

Hobbton’s JV is now 2-0 on the year, and the varsity squad is 0-2. They are set to host Goldsboro on Wednesday, and host James Kenan on Thursday.
