The Hobbton Wildcat volleyball teams split with Goldsboro in Wednesday’s match. The JV won both sets, 25-15 and 25-17. The varsity lost 3-1.

Volleyball coach Russell Jones said, “In the JV match, we got a couple of good runs. Denice Lamb put the game out of reach in the second game with her serves. She got 6 straight points to take it from 15-14 to 21-14 and we finished it off from there.”

In the varsity match, Hobbton took the first one 25-21; but lost the next 3. Jones said, “We just never got anything going. We lost the second game 25-13. The got 2 5-point runs and we couldn’t get things back under control. We played better in the third game. We were down 1 at 17-16 when they got 8 straight points to take the game. In the fourth game, Goldsboro to 2 8-point runs on serve and we lot 25-14. Goldsboro played well and we didn’t.”

The Wildcats hosted James Kenan Thursday for a conference match. Story will be on clintonnc.com and in Sunday’s paper.
