Lakewood J.V. football team took to the field Thursday night against the Lejeune Devilpups from Camp Lejeune. The Leopards were lead in the 1st quarter by quarterback Cameron Sessoms running the offense. The Leopards scored first with a run by Austin Blackwell. It was only a few minutes later when William Peete recovered a Lejeune fumble and ran 10 yards for another touchdown, bringing the score to 13-0. Keshan Bailey was the next Leopard to get on the scoreboard ending the 1st quarter at 20-0.

The 2nd quarter started with Shyhiem Williams running the punt return back 42 yards for the touchdown making it 27-0.

The Devilpups were able to put the offense together and and score with 6:29 left in the 1st half making it 27-6.

The Leopards switched it up some and brought in Quamane Williams to Q.B. who very quickly took a Q.B. keeper for a 45 yards touchdown run. Then with 1:15 left in the half Williams took another keeper this time on a 50 yard run for the touchdown, bringing the half to a end at 41-6.

The 2nd half was again all Lakewood on offense and defense, with the opening kick off taken by Marquese Moore for a 80 yard touchdown run. Then not to be outdone Linwood Rich got into the score book with a 60 yard T D run.

The Deivlpups did get on the scoreboard one more time making it 56-14.

But the night belonged to the Leopards with a final score of 62-14.

Head coach Sylvester Pittman of Lakewood, said, ” It was a great overall effort by all the boys, and everyone got to play tonight, but even though we had a high score we don’t take anyone lightly, those boys played us hard.”

The Leopards get ready not for an in-county rival next Thursday night at the home of the Midway Raiders. The Leopards J.V. team is 3-0 for the season.
