Lakewood Country Club hosted the Lakewood Junior Golf Camp Wednesday through Friday. There were over thirty young golfers who came out to Lakewood to participate in the camp. Lakewood’s golf pro, Curt Pritchard headed up the camp, with help from loyal members.
The campers were divided into separate groups with an instructor who helped the golfers at different aspects of the game throughout the week. A big focus was short game, which is the most important part of golf. At the end of the day after camp, the golfers could either take a swim in the pool, or go and walk nine holes of golf to test out what they had learned.
Each day also featured a putting contest on a forty foot putt on the practice green. Each day, the winner was rewarded with a small prize. Each camper was furnished a tee-shirt at the end of the camp, and lunch and drinks each day.
Pritchard said the camp was a success and he would like to thank those who helped make it happen. “It’s fun seeing the young people get out there and just love playing the game,” said Pritchard. “I think everybody has had a great time this week.”
