The ‘Dogs paid a visit to Wildcat Country Wednesday afternoon, leashing injury-riddled Hobbton in a 4-0 shutout soccer match.

“It was a tough, tough game,” said Wildcat coach Bryan Martinez of Hobbton’s first conference loss of the season. “We had some injuries tonight and one player out sick. That’s never good when you’re up against a tough team like Wallace.”

With both Hobbton captains off the field — one injured, the other with a virus — Martinez said he had to move people into positions they’d never played before.

“We tried to give it our best out there. We just couldn’t get it together. Hopefully we will be stronger and play better when we go to their house.”

Martinez said the boys would have to shake off the loss and move on. “That’s soccer. Things happen, you win some and you lose some.”

The loss moves Hobbton to 5-1 in conference play and 7-3 overall.

They travel to Midway for a game scheduled for 6 p.m.
