“Nuncrackers: The Nunsense Christmas Musical” is the full name of the next show at the Sampson Community Theatre which, for practical reasons, is shortened to simply “Nuncrackers” so it will fit the marquee, the posters and other promotional material. This show concerns the efforts of the Little Sisters of Hoboken presenting a Christmas show in the basement of the convent, in which they enlist the brightest students from the Mount St. Helens Convent school to use their voices in Christmas songs. Of course, things go from bad to worse in more ways than you can imagine as multiple problems arise that must be solved. Therein lies the hilarious one-liners and more tom-foolery than you can shake a stick at, including a spoof of a ballet and the stealing of all the Christmas presents. You can be assured of laughing almost non-stop as you try to not miss the next humorous line in the show.

Lucas Jackson is cast as “John” in “Nuncrackers” and you will recall his shenanigans when he played the part of “Tigger” in “Winnie The Pooh” just a few months ago while Zack Lucas who played the part of “Christopher Robin” in the same show is cast as “Billy” in this production. Carly Jones is an eleventh grader at Cape Fear High who has been on our stage in “Aladdin” and “Annie.” She is playing the part of “Maria.” These are three of the youngsters who were selected to be in the convent’s Christmas show. The other youngster selected was the part of “Louise” which went to Oliviyah Moore who is making her debut on the big stage, and we wish her great success.

The granite blocks under the theater’s marquee may be purchased for an honorarium, a memorial or to advertise your business. The blocks are cemented into the sidewalk and should be there into the next century or more. Contact us by calling 592-8653 and leave us a message for more information.

The Sampson Community Theatre is on the website Facebook and you may read about some of our ongoing activities by going to the site.

Thoughts until next week

Love is not what the mind thinks but what the heart feels.

One of the advantages of being disorderly is that one is constantly making exciting discoveries.

Have you ever wondered what hurts the most: Saying something and wishing you had not or saying nothing and wishing you had?
